Description

Nelumbo nucifera

Nelumbo nucifera or Sacred Lotus is aquatic perennial with flat or concave-circular, wavy-margined, glaucous, mid-green leaves, 80cm across, on stalks to 2m long. Peony-like, sometimes double, pink or white flowers, to 30cm across, are produced in summer on long stalks with short, fleshy prickles.
